The Opportunity Council helps people improve their lives through education, support, and direct assistance while advocating for just and equitable communities.

 

Eviction Prevention: This program provides eviction prevention, rental assistance and other services to prevent and end homelessness by providing financial assistance and/or case management services to eligible individuals and families. Bring 3-day Pay or Vacate Notice to drop-in hours M-F, 12-4pm at Opportunity Council.Provides support services and housing for families and individuals.

 

Housing Programs: Our housing facilities in Whatcom and Island Counties include short-term housing (30 – 90 days), transitional housing (6 months – 2 years), and permanent housing.

Energy Assistance: Helps pay home energy costs for eligible households. For an energy assistance appointment contact the Opportunity Council. MUST CALL 360-255-2192 to schedule an appointment.
Employment: Provides Workfirst Program, BFET program and Employment Skills Classes
Financial Education: F.L.A.R.E (Financial Literacy and Renters Education) is a 6-week course that meets weekly and is a community class designed to provide knowledge on how to save, spend and budget money along with basic skills on how to be a competent renter.
Children and Youth: Provides parents and families with resources to licensed childcare providers and consumer education to help make the most informed decision when selecting a high-quality early care and education program. Offers early childhood educators access to valuable professional development and support services, for both new and established programs- 1 (888) 444-1862 Ext. 227
