REDMOND POLICE VOLUNTEERS AND EXPLORERS

POLICE VOLUNTEERS AND EXPLORERS

The Redmond Police Department recruits volunteers who want to be involved and make a difference in our community. Applicants are assigned based on their abilities and department needs. Some of our current assignments include:

  • Chaplains
  • Crime Prevention Assistant
  • Home Safety Assessment Team
  • Public Affairs Assistant
  • Investigations
  • Outreach Patrol
  • Records/Fingerprinting
  • Special Events
  • Speed Watch Trailer Deployment

Because our department handles sensitive information and is held to high standards by the public, we take great care before accepting candidates. Our application and screening process takes several weeks and includes a series of interviews, reference checks, and a rigorous background investigation.

POLICE EXPLORERS

Redmond Post

Our Explorer Post consists of a group of youth volunteers, ages 14 to 21, who are interested in the field of law enforcement. There is no residency requirement and current members hail from throughout King County. Some explorers may aspire to become police officers while others are merely interested in learning about the profession while gathering community service hours.
